Nutrition (approx.): 600 kcal per serving
Ingredients
- 4 large apples (e.g. Elstar or Granny Smith), peeled and diced
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 150 g plain flour
- 100 g cold butter, diced
- 80 g soft brown sugar
- 50 g rolled oats
- 1 pinch of salt
Preparation
- Preheat the bakeVIA mini oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into even cubes of about 2 cm so that they cook evenly.
- Combine the apple cubes in a baking dish with the caster sugar, ground cinnamon and lemon juice. Spread the mixture evenly over the base of a greased baking dish that fits inside the bakeVIA mini oven.
- Prepare the crumble topping by mixing the flour, brown sugar, rolled oats and salt together in a bowl. Add the cold butter cubes and rub everything together with your fingertips until you have a crumbly, sandy mixture with no large lumps.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples in the dish. Make sure the apples are completely covered to achieve a beautiful, even golden crust.
- Place the dish in the bakeVIA mini oven and bake the apple crumble at 180 degrees Celsius for 28 to 30 minutes. The topping is done when it is golden brown and crispy and the apple filling is gently bubbling around the edges.
- Remove the dish from the bakeVIA mini oven and leave the apple crumble to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
